How to Download TikTok Videos Without Watermark

TikTok's own download button burns a logo and the creator's username into the video. Here is how to get the clean version instead — in about ten seconds.

Why the TikTok app gives you a watermark

When you tap Share → Save video inside TikTok, the app does not hand you the file the creator uploaded. It hands you a separate copy that TikTok re-encoded for this purpose, with a moving logo and the @username stamped into the picture. That stamp is part of the pixels by the time you get the file.

The original, unstamped version does exist on TikTok's servers — it is what the video player streams when you watch. A downloader works by asking for that playback copy instead of the download copy. That is the whole trick, and it is why a web tool can do it while the app's own button cannot.

Step by step

The whole process takes three steps and no account.

• Copy the link. In the TikTok app, tap the Share arrow on the video, then choose Copy link. On the website, copy the address bar URL.
• Paste it into the box. Paste into the field at the top of this page. You do not need to trim anything — the full share text is fine.
• Pick your file. The tool returns the clean MP4. If a higher-resolution version exists you will see a separate HD button too, plus an MP3 of the soundtrack.

Which links work

Public video links work, including the short share links that start with vt.tiktok.com or vm.tiktok.com — those just redirect to the canonical video URL, so paste them as they are.

Private videos, friends-only posts, and age-restricted videos will not resolve. That is not a limitation of the tool; those videos simply have no publicly reachable file to request.

Douyin (the mainland China version of the app) uses a different system and is not supported here.

Does the watermark always disappear?

There are two things people call a watermark, and only one of them can be removed:

• The platform watermark — the TikTok logo plus the @handle that moves around the frame. This is removed, because we are fetching a file that never had it.
• The creator's own watermark — text or a logo someone added in CapCut or similar, then exported and uploaded. That is baked into the pixels before TikTok ever sees the file. Nothing can remove it.

Is this legal?

Downloading a public video to watch offline, or to keep a copy for your own reference, is broadly accepted in most countries. What gets people in trouble is republishing someone else's work as if it were theirs, or using it commercially without permission.
